An analysis of the best diet pills requires three things. The first is a definition explaining what diet pills actually are. Second is to identify the different diet pills that are available. The last is to compare the pills and assess their different positive and negative aspects.

Diet pills are pills used in conjunction with a healthy diet which helps people to lose weight. An exception can be made for appetite suppressants that modify the diet by suppressing hunger.

Meridia is used with a calorie-reduced diet to help users to lose weight and keep the weight from returning. It is thought that it affects certain chemicals in the brain and may be an appetite suppressant. It is only to be used by people who are very overweight or obese. Meridia has been successful in helping people to achieve weight loss, however it is not without side effects. In 2002 the non profit group Public Citizen sent a petition to the FDA urging the Agency to ban the drug in the United States. They claimed that it could be linked to 29 deaths.

Alli is intended to be used only by people who are obese. It is important for Alli users to maintain a very low fat diet. Generally Alli users have reported good results. Alli’s popularity has fallen because of the possible side effects that include bloating, cramping, and diarrhoea.

Lipodrene is the least effective of the four diet pills being discussed here. However, it is generally used by body builders and athletes who don’t need to lose much weight in the first place. Lipodrene contains Ephedra which has been linked to a number of deaths because of the strain it can put on the heart. Dietary supplements containing Ephedra were banned by the FDA in 2004.

Hydroxycut, along with Alli, is the most successful of the four drugs presented here. Studies have shown that obese users have managed to not only lose weight but to keep that weight off. However, other studies have stated that Hydroxycut can affect the liver.
