Does Hydroxycut Work

Hydroxycitrate, known commonly as Hydroxycut, is used widely as a weight loss agent. Its supporters also claim that it reduces fat regain after use. But does Hydroxycut work?

Hydroxycut is mainly used to assist overweight and obese people in losing body weight. It is supposedly also effective in reducing body weight regain. The latter selling point seems to be the most impressive. After all, what is the point of losing weight if you are only going to put it all back on again? This is always a problem for people trying to lose weight, especially those who are dieting. If Hydroxycut works as well as some people claim then it would be very valuable as a weight loss pill.

On the negative side it seems clear that Hydroxycut works by suppressing appetite. It makes you feel full and, as a result, you eat less. This doesn’t help or encourage users to eat healthier foods. The available medical literature also seems to suggest that Hydroxycut may have some negative effects upon the liver. The Anecdotal evidence  is somewhat disturbing. Many users of the drug reported feeling ‘spaced out’ and that they suffered with ‘shaky hands’.

Further analysis of the medical evidence provides differing results. Some recent research claims that Hydroxycut has no positive effect of all. Another short-term study of obese women in Thailand was overwhelmingly positive, as the subjects lost weight and, in the short term at least, avoided weight regain. It is important to note that these medical studies of Hydroxycut were all short-term ones which indicates that it may not be suitable for use over a long period of time. Considering that these studies were only carried out on obese individuals it is probably best to avoid Hydroxycut use unless you are very overweight or obese.

The short answer to the question “does Hydroxycut work?” is yes. It does seem to have short-term benefits for obese individuals attempting to lose weight and keep it off. However, considering the side effects it would be wise to only use Hydroxycut for a short period.
