Thermogenics

Thermogenics refuse to a process whereby dietary supplements are used to stimulate the body’s ‘fat burning’ capability. Thermogenic weight loss pills increase the metabolism of the body’s fatty tissue to generate heat, thereby ‘burning’ the fat. The most well known Thermogenic combination is the so-called ‘ECA stack’. ECA stands for Ephedrine, caffeine, and Aspirin. This is a very popular formula among bodybuilders.

The ephedrine in the RCA stack and other thermogenic medicines is derived from Ephedra, which plays a large part in increasing the body’s metabolic rate. However, fat burning products containing Ephedra have come under close scrutiny because it has been linked to the deaths of two high profile American sportsmen and possibly hundreds of other people. This is because the increased metabolic rate of users can potentially cause a heart attack. A Danish study has claimed that closer examination would reveal Ephedra did not cause many of these deaths. It stated that Ephedra’s reputation was due to a ‘snowball’ effect caused by bad publicity.

In 2004 the FDA banned all supplements, including Thermogenic drugs, containing Ephedra. The FDA stated that these products presented an unreasonable risk of illness or injury. Despite this, thermogenic supplements containing Ephedra have become very popular among athletes. In fact a 2006 survey of collegiate hockey players found that nearly half had used Ephedra in some form believing that it would enhance their athletic performance. Thermogenic formulations are still easily obtainable on the internet.

Caralluma Burn does NOT contain Ephedra and is a complete thermogenic to burn away your unwanted weight.

In addition to the apparently high risk of serious illness or death thermogenics users have reported other side effects including insomnia, anxiety, and hypertension. In 2003 the San Francisco Chronicle suggested Ephedra use could be linked to as many as 155 deaths. As mentioned above, a Danish study regards these kinds of figures as an exaggeration.

As the 2006 survey has shown, many people believe that Thermogenics have enhanced their sporting performance. Others are particularly happy because they have managed to lose weight. Of course they may be less happy about the side effects. However, the popularity of Thermogenic products does not appear to have suffered because of the FDA ban.
